Iran is located in an arid and semi-arid area; therefore water crisis is the major environmental issue in this country. University of Tehran as the leading academic center in Iran has recently a main focus on water related research and studies. College of Agriculture and Natural Resources as the oldest college of the university has been working on water related issues for decades. In the other hands, Chinese Academy of Sciences as the largest academy of sciences in the world has a great research potential in area of water and environment.

In 2016, the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences-Chinese Academy of Sciences (RCEES-CAS) and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources-University of Tehran (UTCAN) designed to promote and collaborate in research and development between the two institutions, especially to develop academic and cultural interchanges through mutual assistance in the areas of education and research.

For providing assistance to the cooperation activities between the RCEES-CAS and the UTCAN in China and Iran, the International Research Center for Water and Environment (IRCWE) was established in 2017.

We invite all researchers and academicians from around the world to help us to enhance and promote our capabilities in the area of water and environment.
